It’s that easy:

Li-ion batteries resemble familiar finger batteries, but they have a huge advantage over them in current and capacity. They found application in modern household appliances: from smartphones to video cameras. From the support of Kinsbursky Brothers you will be having great result now.

It should be remembered that, like any other battery, a lithium-ion battery carries some risks. Despite the fact that such a battery has a relatively small size, the consequences of its explosion can be very sad. Improper operation and disposal can cause burns, poisoning and environmental pollution.

But perhaps the worst thing that can happen in an apartment is a fire. This means that everyone must be aware of what to do if the lithium-ion battery became the cause of the fire.

First of all, it should be noted that the ignition of a battery of this type is extremely rare. The battery is likely to swell up, and electrolyte will flow out of it, but nevertheless, in the news every year they describe the cases of battery explosion in smartphones and other devices.

What are the causes of a Li-ion battery explosion?

The most common batteries explode, whose life has long expired. After 4-5 years, the case and the internal parts of the battery undergo changes due to the action of electrolyte, and therefore the battery becomes extremely vulnerable to temperature changes, vibration, short circuit and mechanical damage. Due to the circuit, the chemicals contained inside the battery react and form gases. The battery starts to warm up and swells.

Of course, the battery has protection: it is a special valve that opens under a certain pressure and allows gases to go outside. But sometimes the reaction rate inside is so high that a real explosion of the battery occurs, at which you see sparks. This is how gases are ignited when they come into contact with oxygen from the atmosphere.

How to extinguish such a fire?

If the device was connected to the network, first of all you need to unplug the power cord. Burning batteries from this will not stop, but so you protect yourself and your apartment from major damage. Try to remove the battery from the device and take it to a fireproof place, for example, to a bath or kitchen sink. If possible, allow it to simply burn out and cool, and then dispose of it.
