How a Towing Service Saved My Holiday

Many of you know that traveling for the holidays can be hectic and even dangerous with all of the crazy drivers on the road out there today. Even if you try to plan our route around major cities, going hours out of the way to avoid congestion, only to have it follow you because every other driver on the road is thinking along the same lines.

We’ve all been there, and we all know what it’s like to sit in traffic for hours while road crews shut down major highways without detouring the traffic first. Ugh.

One thing that not a lot of people plan for, however, is car troubles on the road. You get so hooked on the process of planning every little detail that you forget some of the most basic ones like antifreeze or getting that “Service Engine Soon” light checked out like you meant to for weeks now. We’re all guilty of it, so come on, introduce yourself to the group.

Well, that’s exactly what happened to me when I was traveling to West Bend, WI to see the folks for the holidays. A snowstorm was moving through, so of course I was traveling right through it. Right through the heart of Milwaukee, of all places.

Fresh snow on the ground, no one has made track marks yet to keep the car from sliding around, and what happens? My engine dies – slowly, I make my way to the side of the highway at a rolling stop when my engine sputtered, and that was that. I curled up in my emergency blanket and made a phone call.

I was an hour outside of my folks place, and with the storm and holiday traffic, I thought, there’s no way I’m getting out of this without calling Towing Milwaukee. No one outside of the city would bother coming out in these weather conditions, if they even could.

Now, my folks moved out here after I left the nest – we were California natives and all of this snow wasn’t my idea of a retirement retreat, but they had something in their head about lower cost of living and better quality of life. Something about being connected with nature or something. It was probably a big excuse for my dad to spend more days out on the lake fishing.

Regardless, I was clueless when it came to navigating this place, I had no choice but to do a quick Google search on my phone for nearby towing services in Milwaukee, sitting there in my car retaining as much heat as I possibly could. I called up the first place and the guy was relatively friendly, and I explained my situation to him.

I didn’t think he’d have anyone out on the road in that weather, but he said that it was clearing up soon and they’d be out to get me shortly. I took this with a grain of salt with my experiences of other towing companies and finished the call, settling in to my car’s seat, hoping that no one skidded into me in the mean time.

Barely 20 minutes had gone by and this tow truck pulls up in front of me – snow flurries are still coming down, to my surprise. I’m not sure what else I expected from towing services in Milwaukee with as big of a city as it is, but the words “fast service” didn’t exactly come to mind.

The guy comes to my window and knocks, so – reluctantly – open up the door to talk to him, letting in all of the cold air. “Go ahead and climb up into the cab, I’ll get this bad-boy up onto the rig and we’ll get you to where you need to go.” All I needed was a warm cab and you convinced me. He had my car up and secured, and in less than 10 minutes, we were on the road again towards West Bend.

I got to my folks place right on time for dinner. I made sure to give the guy a handsome tip for saving my holiday, but I still don’t feel that’s worth the trouble he went through, driving me an hour outside of the city. I don’t have much experience with towing services in Milwaukee, but I can say that if I ever had to call one again, it would definitely be these guys. They saved my holidays for sure, and my folks were glad to see me home in one piece.
